Fortunately, the rifle was pointed down and the shot went into the concrete floor. The paper says someone was injured by fragments from the floor, but I was not close enough to see it. Later, I did see the hole in the floor, and I saw an older guy packing up his stuff and policemen talking to him. He was at the second table on the first row by the bleachers as you came in the main hall. I don't know if it was him, but whoever it was I honestly felt sorry for them. However, it was their fault and someone could have been seriously hurt, and we certainly don't need more reasons for people to hate gun shows in Virginia.
Always, always, always follow the four gun safety rules:
- All guns are always loaded. Always treat them that way.
- Never let the muzzle cover something you don't want to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
- Always be sure of your target and what is behind it.
Thank you Col Jeff Cooper.
